London-based rapper and songwriter Shygirl has unveiled her latest single, ‘f@ke’, featuring Kingdom, LA-based artist. The track blends Shygirl’s ethereal vocals with the sound of the ‘00s and sees the rapper demand within the lyrics to go to the club, while adding that she wants “a fake bitch” and also wants to be “fake”. Shygirl shared a snippet of her new track on Instagram with her fans eagerly awaiting the anticipated release.
Shygirl’s new track marks her final release in what has been a colossal year, including a Mercury nomination and an AIM UK Independent Breakthrough award. She also supported Beyoncé on her Renaissance tour and has been nominated for the best electronic/dance act for the 2024 MOBO Awards. Shy is in contention with others, including TSHA, Nia Archives, PinkPantheress, salute, and Aluna.
This release comes just a month after Shygirl’s last single ‘thicc’ featuring Irish singer-songwriter Cosha and produced by Karma Kid and Sega Bodega. The rapper recently released the deluxe version of her acclaimed 2021 debut album, ‘Nymph’. ‘Nymph_o’ includes remixes and features from Björk, DETO BLACK, Arca, Erika de Casier, Eartheater, Fatima Al Qadiri, Tinashe, and more.
Shygirl has amassed a large following, with fans eagerly anticipating live shows. In a recent post, the rapper teased “Club Shy incoming 2024” on Instagram, indicating that a live show is likely on the cards.
