Julian De Bono, a 63-year-old who disappeared after a night out, has left his friends and family worried. Franstine Jones, one of Julian’s friends, shared that Julian is “popular friendly guy,” and it is unlike him to not be in touch. Julian was last in Yarmouth Road, Ipswich, heading towards London Road around 01:45 GMT on Sunday. Police were seen searching the area with drones, small craft on the water, physically entering the water, and a dive team is expected to arrive providing specialist support.
Ms Jones added that Julian’s friends were “very, very worried” and concerned about his silence, “It’s unusual for someone like Julian, who is well known, to not hear anything from him – despite people calling him either through social media or the phone. Everyone wants to support the family, and I just hope everything ends up positively. If anybody has got any information, let the police know, no matter how little it is, it might be that final bit that makes sense.”
Julian works at the Ipswich job centre and has many hobbies, including photography. He attended a work event before heading back to Ipswich town center to continue his night out on Saturday evening. Julian was wearing a white, partially see-through shirt, red trousers, and high-shine black shoes. His family has appealed on Facebook for anyone with information to get in touch.
Ch Insp Richard Burton from Suffolk Police commented that they want to give water as much attention as possible during the search, and there had been a number of house-to-house inquiries. Searches will continue to take place in and around the River Gipping, where Julian was last seen, for any new clues. Suffolk Police have released an appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage from the area, which may lead to discovering more information that may aid the investigation
