Louis Theroux, the acclaimed documentary filmmaker, has revealed that he has shaved off his eyebrows due to hair loss caused by alopecia. In an Instagram post, the 53-year-old also shared that he’s considering microblading – a semi-permanent tattooing process – to give himself the illusion of fuller brows.

Posting a video and pictures of himself shaving off his facial hair, Theroux asked his one million followers: “Can you tell what’s different?” The Emmy-winning filmmaker further added, “I’m also thinking about getting microblading soon. In the meanwhile, I figure no eyebrows are better than patchy eyebrows.”

Theroux has been open about his struggle with alopecia, which has already affected his hair and beard. He has expressed concern that he may be completely bald in “two years or less”. The award-winning documentary maker has shared his journey with alopecia since January.

Alopecia is a term used to describe hair loss that can range from a small area to the entire body. According to the NHS, it can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender.
