William Brown: Arrest after boy, 7, killed in Sandgate hit-and-run

A seven-year-old boy named William Brown was tragically killed while crossing a road in Sandgate Esplanade in Folkestone, Kent. He was hit by two vehicles, one of which was an unidentified car or van, and the other was a red Citroen car, according to Kent Police. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 17:35 GMT. A 49-year-old man from the Dymchurch area was arrested on Thursday at 17:15 GMT in connection with the incident.

William’s parents made an emotional appeal to the driver who was involved in the incident to come forward with any information they may have. William Brown Sr described his son as “a beautiful boy”, who had been killed while trying to cross the road to pick up his football. William’s mother, Laura Brown, was also distraught and broke down as she spoke about her son. She described him as “the sweetest boy in the world, so soft and gentle,” and begged for anyone with any information to come forward. She said, “someone killed my son and left him in the middle of the road.”

The family of William appealed to the public to help them find the person responsible for their son’s untimely death. They believe that someone must have seen something as “thousands of people walk down this road.” William’s father said that they just want peace for their son and appealed to the public to do whatever they can so that William Jr can rest in peace.

Folkestone & Hythe District Council leader Jim Martin also extended his condolences to the family of William. He described the boy’s death as a “terrible tragedy,” and echoed the heartfelt plea of his parents for the driver of the vehicle to come forward and assist Kent police officers. The unidentified vehicle left the scene in the direction of Hythe before the arrival of the emergency services. The police have requested anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward and assist them with their investigation
