On Monday, Barbarians rugby player Api Ratuniyarawa pled guilty to two counts of assault by penetration and one of sexual assault. The 37-year-old Fijian, who plays for London Irish, committed the crimes on three women at a Cardiff city centre bar named Revolution between 31 October and 1 November. Ratuniyarawa was previously named in the Barbarians squad to play against Wales, but was dropped after news of the accusations against him broke.
The Barbarians play exhibition fixtures that bring together players from various clubs throughout the year, meaning that enraged fans may target all players associated with their team, whether involved in the scandal or not.
Ratuniyarawa will be sentenced at a later date.
