London’s Fabric nightclub will play host to a day party in memory of legendary drum and bass MC MC Fats, real name Wildale Spencer. All proceeds from the event, entitled In Memory of MC Fats: Peace, Love and Unity, will go towards covering the DJ’s funeral expenses and funding his personal projects. MC Fats was renowned for his soulful vocals, which he brought to drum and bass events in the UK and beyond. He was also known for his distinctive voice, which helped him stand out in the scene.
Fats worked with several notable figures in the drum and bass world, including DJ Hype, Calibre, Chase & Status, Dillinja, and DJ Randall. He drew inspiration from his reggae and rare groove background to create a unique sound. It earned him a residency at Fabric, where he was known for his performances in front of sell-out crowds.
MC GQ, another influential figure in the UK club scene, referred to Fats as his “big brother” and praised his unique style as something that would never be replicated. Cleveland Watkiss also had positive things to say about Fats, recalling the joy and laughter the two had shared together.
DJ Hype, who was a close friend of Spencer, praised Fats’ unique voice, which he said had touched many people. He added that the DJ would live on forever in his heart.
Tickets for In Memory of MC Fats: Peace, Love and Unity are available for purchase now. The event will take place at Fabric, which was one of the MC’s favourite venues, on a date to be announced soon. All profits from the party will go towards covering Fats’ final costs and supporting his personal projects
