Kurtis Blow and Troy Harewood reveal plans for The UK Hip Hop Museum

Hip hop legends Kurtis Blow and Troy Harewood are teaming up to establish The UK Hip Hop Museum. This upcoming immersive museum will celebrate the history of hip hop culture in the United Kingdom, as well as its journey from its roots in the United States.

The museum will tell the story of UK hip hop through various mediums, such as DJing, MCing, graffiti, and breakdancing. Located in the heart of London, the museum’s goal is to promote “cultural appreciation and social empowerment,” with a commitment to education and “economic growth, diversity, and creativity.”

According to Harewood, the museum is centered around three core principles: preservation, inspiration, and education. The purpose is to provide a platform that educates and empowers communities across the UK.

Kurtis Blow expressed that the museum aims to be more than just a cultural hub, transcending conventional boundaries and pioneering innovative approaches to education through the universal language and power of hip hop. The museum is currently looking for sponsors, advisors, volunteers, and archivists to help bring it to life. An opening date and exact location have not been revealed yet
