Royal commentator Omid Scobie has urged people to wait for the release of his upcoming book, Endgame, before jumping to conclusions about its content. The book describes a power struggle within the Royal Household and is set to be published on Tuesday. However, Scobie has expressed frustration at reports in US and French media, claiming that many of these taken excerpts are inaccurate due to “bad translations and snippets without context.” Scobie took to social media, asking readers to wait for the complete text.
Many news sites have run stories based on the snippets from French serialization of Endgame that have been published, says Scobie. He is disappointed at media reports leaving readers to believe that the book’s material appears in the same context as the snippets. UK newspapers published claims relating to Prince Harry’s conversations with his father, the King, as well as the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry. The Sun newspaper also reported on letters exchanged between the King and Meghan in response to her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, claiming that the Duchess named two members of the Royal Household who referred to the race of her then-unborn child, Archie in the letters.
Speculations have erupted following the publication of Scobie’s previous royal book, Finding Freedom, which chronicled the Sussexes stepping back as working royals. This led Prince Harry and Meghan to deny their contributions to the book. On the same note, Scobie has also clarified that the Sussexes have had nothing to do with his latest book, and that he is not friends with Meghan.
With the release of Prince Harry’s book, followed by this book, Endgame, the Royal Family continues to inspire authors and book editors. With the success of Prince Harry’s book, many have speculated whether or not Meghan plans to publish her own book, but sources close to the couple have poured cold water on the rumors. Meanwhile, the Sussexes are making their mark with their production company, Archewell and producing exciting content.
With Netflix’s royal drama series, The Crown, coming to an end next month, it will be interesting to see the reception for two films based on the Duke of York, Prince Andrew- produced by Netflix and Amazon
