The mother of one of the teenagers who died in a tragic car accident in North Wales has expressed her sorrow at the loss of her son, describing him as a “unique” and “special person”. Seventeen-year-old Harvey Owen was travelling in a car with lifelong friends Jevon Hirst, Wilf Fitchett and Hugo Morris when the accident occurred. Paying tribute to her son, Harvey’s mother stated that he had been a “most precious soul”. Ms Owen went on to say that she can’t accept that she won’t be able to hold him and tell him that she loves him again.
The teenagers, who went missing after a camping trip, were discovered in the silver Ford Fiesta upside down and partially submerged in water. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. A major search was launched after the boys were reported missing. They were found on the A4085 in Garreg, near Tremadog, Gwynedd.
Harvey’s mother described her son as a “laid back, charismatic, cheeky” and “a boy not of his time”. She said he was always passionate about his hobbies, including pets, BMX, skateboarding, playing guitar, and jazz music. More recently, he had developed a passion for bread-making, and a dream of opening his own bread shop and cafe. Ms Owen stated that everyone has a funny story to tell about Harvey, and he never caused ill will or wronged anyone.
In a statement issued through North Wales Police, Harvey’s mother said that her son had touched “many people along the way”, and that she is devastated by her loss. She concluded by saying “Harvey was perfect when he came into the world and he will go out that way. He was and will forever be a son we can be proud of.
