Newcastle-based party Ghetec has launched its label arm with the release of a new record called V/A ‘Emotional Body Music’. The release features compositions from Ghetec label head Boo, Jacklyn, Cotton Mouth, n.uir, D4N, and Rayme. The album comprises a variety of delicate and emotive soundscapes, which when combined, culminate in deeply powerful and driving music.
The label’s visual identity is equally pivotal to the company as it enters a new stage as a label. Polly Byatt, a multifaceted artist from Gateshead, oversees this. The label’s focus is centered around tears, considered by Ghetec as a powerful symbol of self-expression, catharsis, and sensitivity. Each track on the album was curated with emotion as a vital aspect of the music.
Boo states that moments of spontaneity that occur on the dancefloor are elusive, transitory, and difficult to recreate. However, this is what the label aimed to achieve in the creation of ‘Emotional Body Music’. The label pressed each track based on words like sensory, sensual, and euphoric. Jacklyn’s ‘This Can’t Be Real’ was the first song on the roster. It had a warm, soulful feel and haunting synths that made it realistically human according to Boo.
The album’s compositions highlight the importance of feeling something, which in this case, is the defining aspect of the musical creation. Each artist on the album is a vital part of the Ghetec identity and presents something different to the table. As the label continues to evolve, ‘Emotional Body Music’ will represent an essential milestone in its history.
