Christmas 2026 stamps unveiled by Royal Mail

Royal Mail has revealed its Christmas stamp collection for this year, showcasing artistic interpretations of the Nativity story. This set consists of five stamps, collaboratively designed by graphic artist Gareth Howat and illustrator Rebecca Sutherland. The images capture classic biblical moments including Mary and Joseph’s journey, the infant Jesus, an angel, shepherds, and the Three Wise Men.

This release also commemorates a significant milestone, marking 60 years since the introduction of the first Christmas-themed postage stamps. The inaugural collection was issued in December 1966 following a children’s art contest initiated by then-postmaster Tony Benn. Since that time, Christmas stamps have become a cherished seasonal tradition in the UK.

Rebecca Sutherland expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this long-standing custom, describing it as an “absolute honour.” She shared that her interest in stamps dates back to childhood when she was a collector herself, making the chance to design her own set particularly meaningful. Her involvement continues the festive spirit seen in previous years’ stamps, which have featured scenes such as snow-covered cathedrals and lyrics from well-known carols.

David Gold, representing Royal Mail, commented on the new collection, stating: “We hope this year’s Christmas stamps will add an extra touch of festive magic to the millions of greetings sent to family and friends at home and around the world.” The release underlines Royal Mail’s ongoing commitment to celebrating Christmas through the creative expressions of skilled artists
