The winners of the latest season of Celebrity Traitors have expressed their relief at finally being able to reveal their success, ending what they described as one of British television’s biggest secrets. Actor Sebastian Croft and comedian Romesh Ranganathan emerged as the final two contestants, splitting the £83,000 prize money between their chosen charities. Their victory came after the original group of 21 celebrities was narrowed down to seven finalists during the BBC One competition.
Croft, often called Bash by friends, shared with BBC Newsbeat how satisfying it was at last to openly discuss their win. The pair reunited on Ranganathan’s BBC Radio 2 show the day following the finale, reflecting on the challenges of maintaining secrecy before the grand reveal. He admitted that finally waking up without having to keep the secret was a considerable relief.
Ranganathan, who is 48 years old, humorously declared on his radio program, “Last night, I don’t know if you’re aware, was the finale of The Celebrity Traitors and I won.” While delighted by their win, he credited Croft with persuading him to eliminate the last traitor, known as King Kenny. “It’s taken the gloss off it slightly that everybody’s saying, ‘you better thank [Croft] every day for the rest of your life,’” he joked in typical deadpan style. Croft, just 24, praised Ranganathan’s gameplay as both clever and characterful, highlighting his sharp instincts.
Meanwhile, King Kenny reflected on his experience in the game, recounting the various roles he played, from faithful to traitor, and the emotional toll it took. He admitted his plans for the final round were lacking and acknowledged the difficulty of deceiving others over an extended period. “There were so many times when I felt bad pinning stuff on people,” he said. Despite the stress, he noted moments of fun in the competition. Another finalist, Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix, discussed her pride in overcoming physical challenges while pregnant, including a daring helicopter rope descent, which she viewed as proof of her capability and determination
