Bride goes to Tameside Hospital to dance with Dad on wedding day

Sinèad arrived at the hospital an hour before her wedding ceremony, giving her the chance to show her dress to her father, Leslie, and share a special father-daughter dance. In a touching moment captured on video, Sinèad is seen in her wedding gown, while Leslie wears his suit, as they slow dance to the song “This Dance” by Scott Thomas Laughridge.

Reflecting on the experience, Sinèad said, “I just fought back my tears for my Dad because I thought I can’t cry.” She recalled how Leslie kept apologizing to her throughout the moment. Their story of love began years earlier; Sinèad met her now-husband, Stephen, when they were both 17 years old and attending college. The couple became engaged in 2015, and after deciding to finally get married earlier this year, they eagerly anticipated their wedding day.

Sinèad described her shock when Leslie was admitted to the hospital on October 8. “My mum rang me [and] told me my Fad was really not well,” she remembered, adding that both she and her mother were in tears. Visiting him the next day, she realized that her father would not be able to leave the hospital for the ceremony. A nurse explained the severity of his condition, emphasizing that Leslie was at such high risk he should not be discharged, not even for a short period. Sinèad noticed that her father was breathless, which was unusual for him, and found the situation deeply upsetting.

Despite his condition, Leslie insisted that his daughter proceed with her wedding plans. “But Dad being Dad – he’s just stubborn,” Sinèad said. He urged her not to delay the wedding, repeatedly telling her, “Don’t worry and just get on with the day.” Leslie promised to watch photographs and videos of the event, showing his unwavering support even when he couldn’t be there in person
