At the start of 2025, Hammond revealed that he and his wife Mindy, with whom he has two children, were going through a separation. This announcement came just three months after the passing of his father, who succumbed to cancer.
This period also coincided with the release of the final episode of The Grand Tour, marking the conclusion of Hammond’s 22-year career alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May. Following this chapter of his life, Hammond has been focusing on rebuilding and starting anew in Wales, where he has noticed a significant improvement in his energy and outlook.
Reflecting on these changes, he shared, “I’m now far braver and do things I would never have done.” He has embraced new activities, including joining a running club in Abergavenny, where he has managed to reduce his 5k time to under 25 minutes. Additionally, he has taken up open water swimming in the Lake District, keeping up with his new partner, Keira “Kiki” Glen.
