Man charged after Hackney attacks on three Jewish women

A 33-year-old man has been formally charged following an incident in Hackney, east London, where three Jewish women were assaulted. The police responded to an emergency call at approximately 13:40 BST on Monday after members of Shomrim, a Jewish neighbourhood watch organization, detained the suspect at Clapton Common.

The victims involved in the attack sustained minor injuries. The individual charged is Abdisamad Siad, who resides in Pilgrims Way, Islington. He faces three counts of assault by beating and is scheduled to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.

Footage shared online by Shomrim shows a man approaching a woman, pausing momentarily before delivering two punches. According to the group’s Twitter post, they were already on the scene following a report from another “visibly Jewish” woman who said she had also been punched in the face at Clapton Common earlier on the same day.

In response to the event, the Metropolitan Police have stepped up patrols in the surrounding area and are collaborating with Jewish community leaders to offer additional reassurance to local residents. Furthermore, Siad has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent for a separate assault on a woman, believed to be known to him, which occurred in Islington on 16 October
