Woman describes alleged assault by Russell Brand as 'frenzied' and 'violent'

A woman alleging that Russell Brand sexually assaulted her has characterized the incident as both “frenzied” and “violent.” Brand, aged 51, currently faces a total of seven charges, including three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. These accusations are brought forward by six different women and cover a time frame spanning from 1999 to 2009. Brand denies all the allegations against him.

During the trial proceedings on Tuesday, the jury heard testimony from the fourth complainant. She claims the assault took place in the mid-2000s at the Choice FM radio studios located in central London. According to her, she had just exited a small room within the studio building when Brand was standing nearby. She recalled, “‘He said ‘aye aye’, he grabbed me by my face, started to kiss me, and when he was kissing me he started pushing me – his body against me.” She described the kiss as “very frenzied” and said there was no time to comprehend what was happening. She further explained that Brand ran his hands over her body while she was pressed against the wall.

Speaking anonymously from behind a blue screen, the complainant detailed the nature of the kiss as “sloppy” and “very, very rough.” When questioned by the prosecution, she added, “His hands at the same time were all over me… He touched my bum, my breasts, his body was pressed up against me.” The woman stated that she managed to push Brand away and swore at him afterward. She also mentioned that there were several other people with Brand at the time who she claims did not react or comment on the alleged assault. The woman, now in her 50s, said she had never encountered Brand before and assumed he was present because of his appearance on Channel 4’s Big Brother’s Big Mouth show.

The complainant expressed feeling “dirty” following the incident and admitted she had never disclosed the experience to anyone, recalling that she felt “shocked and stunned, shaken.” When Brand’s defense lawyer asked why no one who potentially witnessed the event spoke up, she responded, “It was not the present-day environment.” She explained, “On the day it happened – and I ask myself this question – why I didn’t share it, it wasn’t the culture where something happened to you and you tell people.” Regarding her decision not to report the incident to the police, she said she had concerns about whether she would be believed, the risk to her job, and financial obligations like her mortgage. She said she had “buried it for so long” and ultimately came forward after seeing a television documentary about Brand’s alleged conduct.
