A woman accusing Russell Brand of raping her at a bar described her experience to police during a 2023 video interview, which was shown to the jury in Brand’s ongoing trial. She recounted that during the alleged assault, she “just closed my eyes and tried not to be there.” The incident reportedly occurred while the two were discussing Brand’s role as host of the Channel 4 show Big Brother’s Big Mouth.
Brand, 51, is currently facing seven charges, including three counts of rape, three of sexual assault, and one of indecent assault. These accusations come from six women and cover a timespan of a decade, from 1999 to 2009. Brand denies all allegations against him.
During her police interview, the woman stated that Brand suddenly “grabbed my boobs out of nowhere in the middle of the conversation.” Shortly afterward, she said he “dragged me in the toilets” where the floor was flooded. There, the woman claims Brand unzipped himself and proceeded to orally rape her. The alleged incident took place in 2004 at a birthday party in Soho, London.
She described the assault as “swift” and that it left her “in disbelief and shock.” She recalled the moment vividly, saying, “The visual I remember is just this big grin – it felt like a clown, (with) that sort of weird look in the eye.” Despite the shock, the conversation prior had been about the television show. The woman further described how Brand “was holding me quite strongly on the arm and pulled me in that direction,” adding, “Part of me was saying just get it over with so you can get out of here.” After the alleged assault, Brand reportedly said, “Oh I guess we should swap numbers now.” Brand has entered a plea of not guilty, maintaining that if any sexual contact occurred, it was consensual.
