During a recent court case, it was revealed that bullets were found embedded within a wall and a microwave after shots were fired at the wrong house in Pyle, Bridgend. The attack, which happened in the early hours of September 22, 2025, involved a gang targeting a young child but mistakenly shooting at an innocent woman and her son who were asleep inside. Fortunately, neither of them suffered any injuries.
At Cardiff Crown Court, the jury viewed footage capturing two men firing a 9mm pistol at the property before quickly fleeing on an electric motorbike. The attack was reportedly a retaliatory act connected to a disputed theft involving alleged drug dealer Daniel O’Callaghan. The gang believed O’Callaghan had stolen drugs valued at thousands of pounds from a cache located in Guernsey. Prosecutors explained that the gang operated a drug distribution network selling cocaine and ecstasy across the Channel Islands and south Wales.
Evidence presented in court included photographs and text messages obtained from a mobile phone belonging to one of the accused men, which indicated conversations about targeting the child involved. The defendants, Kian Darkes and Daniel Clarke, both aged 21 from the Bridgend area, admitted to possessing a firearm and ammunition in a public place but denied having the gun with intent to endanger life. Surveillance from doorbell and security cameras also captured their escape following the shooting.
Additional items tied to the incident were found at the home of alleged gang member Kyle Long, including a carrier bag containing a hoodie, gloves, and face masks. Testing revealed gunshot residue and DNA matches linking Darkes and Clarke to the crime. Meanwhile, after the event, O’Callaghan sent a message to Darkes denying any involvement in the theft of drugs and pleading, “WTF is going on. Someone shot a gun. Is that for me? You need to tell me what is going on. I haven’t done anything wrong. I’ve paid whatever I needed to pay. You need to know this wasn’t me.” Kyle Long, 40, and Callum Pearson, 24, both deny conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent, while Jade Evans, 40, faces charges related to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. The trial is ongoing
