Man, 36, arrested six years on from Moss Side double murder

A man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder in connection with a double fatal shooting that occurred over six years ago. The victims, Junior Ajose, aged 36, and Cheriff Tall, aged 21, were fatally shot at a lockdown party in Manchester’s Moss Side district during the early hours of June 21, 2020.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the 36-year-old suspect was arrested in Turkey and brought back to England on Saturday. Upon arrival at Stansted Airport, GMP officers were there to receive him, and he is currently held in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson, part of GMP’s major incident team, expressed the force’s dedication to bringing justice to the victims and their families. He said, “This arrest demonstrates our unwavering commitment to securing justice for Junior and Cheriff and their loved ones.” He also highlighted the extensive investigation efforts undertaken over the past six years, including executing multiple warrants, analyzing evidence, examining seized devices, and following every lead to identify those responsible.

Both Ajose and Tall, who were unacquainted, were shot in the head at a car park near Caythorne Street just before 1:00 AM BST and later died in hospital. GMP estimated that between 300 and 400 people were in the car park that night. On the fifth anniversary of their deaths last year, the police renewed their appeal for information. Higginson reiterated the ongoing search for information to clarify exactly what happened and to pinpoint any remaining suspects. There remains a £50,000 reward for crucial information leading to the conviction of the perpetrator
