Legoland Windsor evacuated over burst water main

The popular Legoland Windsor theme park was forced to close suddenly on Sunday around midday due to a burst water main. Visitors were instructed to leave the rides and exit the premises promptly as the situation unfolded. The closure came as Thames Water took emergency action to shut off the damaged main near St Leonards Reservoir to avoid flooding, which had disrupted the water supply to the attraction.

Thames Water reported that several local homes experienced flooded gardens as a result of the incident and issued an apology for the inconvenience caused. The company also confirmed that repair efforts were underway and that water supplies had since been restored. They promised to give a further update on the ongoing situation by Monday.

Merlin Entertainments, which operates Legoland Windsor, expressed its gratitude to guests for their understanding during the disruption. A spokesperson added that the park would remain closed as Thames Water continued its work to reinstate normal services. The group acknowledged the inconvenience faced by visitors and reiterated its thanks for their patience.

One visitor traveling from Cornwall described the abrupt evacuation as “surreal.” She recounted that her family, while waiting at the front of a ride queue, suddenly had to stop and leave the area immediately. The announcements referenced a water supply issue caused by Thames Water and the lack of water across the park. Despite having booked a hotel stay that evening, she was disappointed at having to cut the trip short after driving five hours for what was supposed to be a full day of enjoyment. According to sources, the resort is expected to reopen on Monday following repairs and resumption of regular operating hours
