Norwich schoolgirl was stabbed by masked 15-year-old, court hears

A 15-year-old boy, who was caught on CCTV stabbing a schoolgirl, had written notes expressing hatred towards women, according to evidence presented in court. The stabbing incident took place at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich on 11 March, where police responded to reports that a 15-year-old girl had been stabbed in the back.

Now aged 16 and subject to legal restrictions on naming, the defendant faces several charges. While he has denied attempted murder, he has admitted to possessing a kitchen knife without lawful authority and wounding with intent. Prosecutors revealed that the boy had brought the knife to school dressed entirely in black and wearing a face mask, with the declared intent to kill.

The stabbing occurred around 10:24 GMT, shortly after parents had arrived at the school gates. During the opening statements at King’s Lynn Crown Court, prosecutor Chris Paxton KC described the defendant’s actions, stating that he had armed himself with a kitchen knife and went to school “not to learn, but to kill.”

Jurors were informed that the boy’s attire was deliberate—completely black clothing and facial covering—and that he was prepared and equipped for the attack. The court heard that the defendant’s plan was premeditated, highlighting the serious nature of the offense
