A man has admitted to sexually assaulting a woman who had been drugged and abused by her husband without her awareness. The husband, whose identity is being withheld to protect his wife’s anonymity, is alleged to have invited 13 men to sexually abuse her at their home in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
Sean Peers, aged 38, had been scheduled to face trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court but pleaded guilty to one count of assault by penetration on 15 September 2024. Meanwhile, the husband had previously admitted to 60 offences against his wife. Additionally, he acknowledged committing a new rape charge and one count of sexual assault, both of which took place during the previous summer.
Among the men accused of participating in the abuse, Keith Fotheringham, 59, from Dundee, Scotland, has already entered guilty pleas to several offences. There remain 11 other men who are set to go on trial; these individuals have denied all allegations of abusing the woman from 2018 until November 2025.
Peers, who is from Stockport, has been released on conditional bail ahead of sentencing, which will occur after the trial involving the other alleged perpetrators concludes. The husband is no longer a defendant in the ongoing trial but will be sentenced after the overall case ends; he is currently being held in custody
