The presenter, originally from Birmingham, recently experienced what she described as a very real panic attack, a condition she is still learning to understand. She expressed gratitude toward the NHS staff and her colleagues on This Morning, particularly O’Leary, for their support during this difficult moment. Despite feeling unwell, she admitted that the situation has been eye-opening and new territory for her.
On the Friday broadcast of ITV’s This Morning, she co-hosted alongside O’Leary, starting the show at 10:00 BST. However, she left halfway through the program during a pet-related segment, stepping away at 11:30. Following a commercial break, O’Leary addressed her sudden absence, explaining to viewers that she was feeling unwell and had to step out but hoped to return soon. He later updated the audience that she wouldn’t be coming back that day and reassured everyone he would continue hosting for the remainder of the show.
The presenter’s rise to fame began with her appearance on Channel 4’s reality series Big Brother, which led to further opportunities on shows like I’m A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing. In 2021, she became a co-presenter on This Morning, a role through which she contributed to the program winning a National Television Award for best daytime show in 2022. More recently, she expanded her television repertoire by joining The Great British Bake Off in 2023 and taking over as host of For the Love of Dogs in 2024, succeeding the late Paul O’Grady.
Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “It felt very real to me. I’m really new to panic attacks, so I need to learn more about it.” Despite the challenges, she expressed appreciation for the support she received and indicated her intention to rest and recover before returning to work, saying, “I’m going to take stock, take some rest and I’ll see you soon.”
