Residents near RAF Fairford have expressed feelings of vulnerability after a significant counter-terrorism investigation was launched at the site. The incident involved the arrest of five men, all UK nationals in their early twenties from London, who were suspected of preparing a terrorist act. This followed the discovery of three suspicious vans near the Gloucestershire airbase, which is used by the US military. The family, along with their frightened child, were briefly trapped inside their home before escaping via a neighbour’s property. Upon returning, they noted that the vans’ doors had been blown off and their contents, which included water butts and oil drums, scattered around. They expressed frustration over the lack of communication before and after the incident, especially in light of news that the suspects had been released so soon.
