A strong southerly airflow is expected to develop on Tuesday, bringing a noticeable rise in temperatures across the UK. This warm air is being drawn up from regions already experiencing unusually high temperatures, such as France and Spain, where it has been widely above 30°C. As a result, parts of the UK will feel the effects of this heat.
In England, temperatures are set to rise above 20°C in many places, with the highest readings in the south-east reaching into the mid-20s Celsius. This is notably warmer than the average temperatures for late September, which typically range between 16 and 19°C. Despite some cloud cover and occasional showers during Tuesday morning, brighter and sunnier conditions are expected to emerge throughout England and Wales later in the day.
Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland will also experience temperatures above the seasonal norm, with highs ranging from 17 to 22°C on Tuesday. Nevertheless, after a sunny start, cloud cover is predicted to increase as the day progresses. Alongside the warming, southerly winds will grow stronger, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph in Northern Ireland and the western parts of Scotland.
