Firefighters are expected to remain on duty throughout the night as they tackle a blaze at a military barracks accommodation block located in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed in a statement that several crews have been deployed to the scene, with additional support arriving from County Durham and Darlington.
According to the fire service, the situation is anticipated to continue into the early hours. In the meantime, unverified videos and photographs circulating on social media show flames and smoke emanating from the building while onlookers observe the fire.
The BBC has reached out to the Ministry of Defence requesting a statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, Kevin Foster, councillor for Hipswell and Colburn, informed local reporters that information remains limited at this time.
