The company known for operating upscale fitness studios including Barrecore, Boom Cycle, and Kobox has abruptly closed all of its locations. Common Bond, which markets itself as a wellness collective, informed its customers via email that all of its London-based studios are closed “until further notice.”
Common Bond offers a membership costing £2,400 for a year of unlimited classes. Apart from the studios mentioned, it also manages the Reformcore and Triyoga brands. In August of the previous year, the company reported having ten sites. Currently, its website is offline, and the BBC has reached out to Common Bond for a statement.
The email, received by customers on Wednesday and reviewed by the BBC, stated: “We’re sorry to let you know that all Common Bond studios are closed until further notice. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disruption this may cause. We understand this is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience while we work through this.”
Instructors revealed to the BBC that they were informed only last week that their pay would be delayed and that they learned about the closures exclusively from the customer email on Wednesday. One instructor shared that on 14 August, the day their wages were due, she and her colleagues were told payment would not arrive on time. She added, “In good faith, I continued to teach my classes without any news on when or if payment would be made. I have heard absolutely nothing since.
