Authorities in Malawi are currently investigating the abduction of a British citizen in Blantyre, the largest city in the southern African country. The victim, Nusrat Osman, aged 47, was kidnapped at approximately 12:30 pm local time on Friday by four individuals traveling in a grey Nissan Dualis, according to an official police statement.
In an effort to aid in her swift recovery, the police have announced a reward exceeding $17,000 (£12,600) for any reliable information that might lead to her safe release and the arrest of those responsible. Osman is a mother of two young children and is employed by a local auditing company.
Reports from Malawian media indicate that Osman’s husband is deeply distressed by her disappearance. He expressed his confusion and concern to Nyasa Times, stating, “I don’t know where she is or how she is. My wife is an auditor and I have no issues with anyone.”
Law enforcement officials have revealed that the reason behind the kidnapping remains unclear, and as of now, the abductors have not made any contact with either the family or the authorities. Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office has confirmed to the BBC that it is aware of the situation and is maintaining communication with Malawian officials to monitor developments
