Axel Scheffler, the illustrator known for the Gruffalo series, has expressed concerns about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create images. He described AI-generated pictures as “worrying,” emphasizing the negative impact they have on the originality and feel of artwork.
Scheffler highlighted that images produced by AI represent “a breach of copyright,” pointing out that such creations lack the unique charm found in hand-drawn illustrations. According to him, the appeal of traditional artwork cannot be replicated by automated processes.
