Four individuals were injured in a stabbing incident on Bromley High Street in south-east London, resulting in seven arrests, according to the Metropolitan Police. Among the injured men, one remains in a critical state in the hospital, while the other three have injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The incident occurred around 14:20 BST near a KFC restaurant, where emergency services including paramedics and the London Air Ambulance responded promptly. An eyewitness described seeing a man brandishing a machete during the altercation. KFC stated that the attack did not take place inside their premises and declined to comment on reports suggesting the dispute began there and moved outside.
An unnamed witness recounted, “I saw a fight breaking out at the door of KFC; people involved were partly inside and outside. A male in a grey tracksuit pulled out a machete and ran further into KFC holding it up in the air, at which point most people around KFC started running away, including my friend and I. I didn’t turn around until we got to the shopping centre where I saw him running away with someone down a road.” Georgiana, the manager of a nearby gambling shop, Merkur Slots, noted that the fight spilled onto the High Street. Concerned for safety, she locked three customers inside her shop, which remains closed until the situation calms.
Local resident Vinnie Guadagnino described witnessing a significant emergency response, mentioning: “Police cars kept coming, then within the next half hour there were multiple fire engines and people gathering. Then there was a drone overhead and helicopters and an air ambulance – so a massive emergency service response.” Bromley High Street is currently closed between Ringers Road and Ethelbert Road, with police maintaining a presence at the scene and confirming no broader threat to public safety.
Peter Fortune, the Conservative MP for Bromley and Biggin Hill, acknowledged residents’ safety concerns and pledged to stay engaged with the police as investigations continue. Liberal Democrat councillor Graeme Casey praised the swift and strong emergency response, highlighting the challenges faced by London’s stretched police resources. Eyewitnesses described the atmosphere at the scene as tense but noted that police had the situation under control, offering some reassurance to bystanders
