A 22-year-old man named Aaron Turner from Hermitage Road in Higham has been formally charged following a tragic incident involving a vehicle and three cyclists near Gravesend. The collision, which occurred on Sunday morning, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left a third cyclist with minor injuries.
According to Kent Police, the accident took place around 07:45 BST near the village of Sole Street. A white Ford Focus, traveling south-west, was involved in the crash. The victims included a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s who both lost their lives at the scene. The third cyclist was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment of less serious injuries.
Turner faces two charges of causing death by dangerous driving, along with additional accusations of failing to stop at the scene and possessing a class C drug. He is scheduled to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court. Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, initially arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and assisting an offender respectively, have been released on bail.
Authorities conducting the investigation have appealed to the public for any information related to the incident. They have requested that anyone who saw the vehicle or the cyclists prior to the crash, or those who witnessed the collision near the junction of Sole Street and Round Street, come forward.
