Liverpool John Lennon Airport has once again been recognized as one of the leading airports in the UK, according to the most recent annual survey conducted by Which?. For the fifth year in a row, the airport earned the title of a Which? Recommended Provider, securing second place overall, just behind Exeter Airport. It outperformed all other major airports included in the survey, which evaluated 27 UK airports or terminals.
The survey, carried out earlier this year by Which?, gathered feedback from nearly 6,000 passengers reflecting on their airport experiences over the past year. Respondents assessed airports across eight key categories, including customer service, check-in procedures, security queue times, cleanliness, baggage claim wait times, seating availability, and food and drink options.
Liverpool City Council holds a 5.8% minority stake in Liverpool John Lennon Airport, a share it maintained following ownership changes in 2025. The remainder, 94.2%, is owned by Ancala. The Council’s investment underscores the airport’s significant role in the region’s economic development, connectivity, and future prospects. Passenger numbers have steadily increased over the last twelve months, with more travelers from the North West and North Wales choosing Liverpool as their point of departure.
In the Which? survey, Liverpool garnered an impressive customer satisfaction score of 78%, receiving five-star ratings particularly for check-in and security queues as well as cleanliness. The airport was also described as “The very best airport in the North West.” Highlighting the importance of this accomplishment, Cllr Nick Small, Cabinet Member for Growth and Economy, praised the dedication of those involved in maintaining a high-quality passenger experience. He emphasized the airport’s key role in supporting Liverpool’s economy, welcoming visitors, and linking residents and businesses to destinations throughout the UK and beyond. Cllr Small remarked, “To be named a Which? Recommended Provider for the fifth-year running is a remarkable achievement and reinforces Liverpool’s growing reputation as a place that delivers excellence for residents, visitors and investors alike. I would like to congratulate the airport team on this well-deserved recognition.”
