Four murder arrests over baby's death in Staffordshire woodland

Authorities have detained four individuals on suspicion of murder following the death of a three-month-old infant found while camping in Staffordshire. Emergency responders arrived at a woodland area off Strawberry Lane near Cheslyn Hay at 08:45 BST on Saturday after receiving reports of a child in cardiac arrest.

The arrested parties include a 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from south Staffordshire, as well as a 20-year-old woman from Wolverhampton and an 18-year-old man from Walsall. All were taken into custody at the location and have now been released on bail as investigations proceed, according to Staffordshire Police.

Detective Inspector Josh Lee stated that officers are actively collecting further evidence to clarify the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death. He emphasized that the inquiry remains open to all possibilities at this stage.

Lee also described the situation as an isolated event and cautioned the public against spreading “unconfirmed and speculative” information online. Police continue to focus on gathering facts while managing the investigation
