Police confirm three-month-old girl died in Cheslyn Hay woods

A tragic incident occurred in Staffordshire where a three-month-old infant lost her life while camping in a wooded area with her family. Authorities were alerted at 08:45 BST on Saturday following reports that the child was in cardiac arrest near Strawberry Lane, close to Cheslyn Hay.

Emergency responders, including an air ambulance, arrived promptly at the scene. Despite their efforts, paramedics declared the infant deceased shortly afterward, according to Staffordshire Police. Detective Inspector Katie Gregory emphasized that the investigation is still in its initial phases and described the case as isolated. She also noted that the cause of death remains unexplained at this time.

The community, consisting of about 7,000 residents, has been deeply affected by the loss. Although the woodland is not designated as a formal camping area, locals mentioned that it is a common spot for teenagers who often fish in two nearby pools and occasionally camp overnight. Additionally, the nature trail within the woods is frequently used by dog walkers and runners.

Police maintained a cordon in the woodland on Sunday while conducting inquiries and reassuring residents. In a tender tribute, a bouquet of roses was placed near the site where the tragedy occurred, commemorating the young girl’s life
