According to BBC News NI, the deceased individual was originally from Guinea-Bissau but had been a resident in Northern Ireland for over twenty years. The incident came to the attention of police on Saturday morning after a member of the public reported a disturbance occurring at a local residence.
PSNI Superintendent Peter Stevenson addressed the media on Monday, explaining that officers responded promptly to the scene following the alert. Upon arrival, they found a 61-year-old man deceased, while his 48-year-old wife had sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Their eight-year-old daughter was also found severely injured.
Officers at the scene provided immediate first aid to both the woman and the child. Superintendent Stevenson emphasized the importance of their rapid response, stating, “I am in no doubt their quick actions gave the young girl a fighting chance at survival.” The child is currently in stable condition in hospital.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed they received a 999 emergency call at 11:08 on Saturday. In response, they deployed a comprehensive medical team to the location, including a helicopter crew, three emergency units, an advanced care paramedic, two ambulance officers, and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) crew
