A former chemistry teacher has been convicted of indecently assaulting two teenage boys during the late 1980s at an all-boys school. Sally-Anne Bowen, who worked as a teacher at Christ’s College in Finchley, north London, committed the offenses when the students were approximately 14 to 15 years old, while she was in her mid-20s.
At Harrow Crown Court on Thursday, the 65-year-old Bowen was found guilty by a jury on seven counts of indecent assault. One of the victims recounted to the court that he had engaged in sexual activity with Bowen “about 20 or 30 times” over a period of several months. He also revealed that he used to visit her home, thought of her as his girlfriend, and had developed feelings of love toward her.
During the proceedings, Bowen denied all accusations, describing the claims as a “total fabrication.” She also stated that she suffered from a medical condition that was undiagnosed at the time of the alleged offenses, which caused her pain and difficulty during sexual intercourse.
Bowen, who currently resides in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, has been released on bail ahead of her sentencing, which is scheduled for November 20
