SNP councillor reinstated after probe into Jordan Linden complaints

The leader of the SNP group within North Lanarkshire Council has been reinstated to the party following an investigation into her management of complaints related to the former council leader Jordan Linden. Tracy Carragher faced accusations of neglecting or minimizing grievances against Linden, who was sentenced in May for sexually assaulting young men.

As a result of the allegations, Carragher was suspended from the SNP and removed as a regional list candidate for the Central Scotland and Lothians West areas in the Holyrood election. However, an independent advocate and barrister conducted an inquiry and cleared her of any wrongdoing. The North Lanarkshire SNP group expressed their full confidence in Carragher’s return to the party.

The investigation determined that Carragher did not conceal any complaints about Jordan Linden. In a statement, the SNP group announced that Carragher’s suspension had been lifted immediately. They emphasized that she had faced serious public allegations which the independent review did not substantiate.

Furthermore, the group highlighted their concern over the extensive public, political, and personal repercussions Carragher endured due to the accusations. They reaffirmed their support for her as she resumes her role within the party
