The trust has indicated that it plans to work with Beynon to gain a clearer understanding of how many horses can legally remain on the land under the commoner’s grazing rights. In a video, Morgan was seen herding the horses away, explaining that this action was taken due to “constant pressure.”
Beynon, a fellow farmer, expressed his gratitude to those who supported him, including the wider farming community in Rhossili. However, he also criticized the trust, stating that they had made “our lives hell the last 18 months.” He described the situation as very difficult and mentioned that the cliffs—a well-known tourist attraction on the south-west of the Gower peninsula—now felt “empty.”
A spokesperson for National Trust Cymru acknowledged the importance of the horses to visitors in Rhossili but emphasized that the trust had “at no stage” requested their removal. They explained that a review was underway regarding the number of horses on the common, as the current number seemed to surpass the agreed limit believed to be outlined in the grazing rights.
