During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Williams had previously been accused of threatening and assaulting Tania in April 2019. However, the police confirmed that the investigation was halted after Tania withdrew her complaint.
Following the tragic news of Tania’s murder, an outpouring of tributes was seen, with more than 200 individuals attending her funeral to pay their respects. Reverend James Stewart, the Rector of Thorpe St Andrew Church, expressed sorrow over the loss, stating that Tania “very much became part of our church community” and describing the news as “very, very devastating.”
Tania was also remembered by the Oxfam charity shop in Magdalen Street, where she volunteered. They described her as a person you would not easily forget. In a heartfelt Facebook post, which attracted over a thousand likes, the shop wrote: “Tania was wonderful: the kindest, most caring person you could meet. She was so full of positive energy, warmth and joy that it is very difficult to comprehend what has happened.”
After the conclusion of the court hearing, Detective Inspector Sam Pontin, the Senior Investigating Officer, acknowledged the resilience shown by Tania’s family throughout the process. He noted that they had consistently supported the investigation from its inception and had endured the challenging experience of listening to the evidence during the trial.
