The incident began shortly before 8:00 pm BST when about 50 tonnes of household rubbish ignited at the facility on Landmann Way in Bermondsey. In response, fifteen fire engines were dispatched to manage the situation.
The London Fire Brigade has issued warnings due to the large volume of smoke generated by the fire, advising nearby residents to keep their windows and doors shut for safety.
