Surrey Police have confirmed the arrest of a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident at a hotel that houses asylum seekers. The event occurred at the Stanwell Hotel in Staines, located near Heathrow Airport, on Saturday evening.
Emergency services received a call at 18:30 BST reporting that a man had been stabbed. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s who had sustained serious injuries. He was promptly transported to the hospital with wounds described as life-threatening.
A Somali man in his twenties has been detained and remains in custody as investigations continue. Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder explained that armed officers were deployed to the scene due to the severity of the situation and assisted in making the arrest.
