Authorities have detained a second individual suspected of attempted murder following an attack on a man along the Bristol to Bath Railway Path. The victim, a man in his 30s, was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. These wounds are thought to have been inflicted with a bladed weapon during the incident, which occurred near Bitton at approximately 8:00 PM BST on Tuesday.
Initially, one teenager was taken into custody on the night of the assault. A second teenager was subsequently arrested the following afternoon. Both suspects have since been released on conditional bail as the investigation continues to unfold.
Insp Barny Mabbett of Avon and Somerset Police addressed the public’s concerns by stating, “Uniformed officers are conducting patrols along the railway path to provide reassurance because we recognise an incident like this does inevitably cause concern.” The police remain actively engaged in probing the circumstances surrounding the attack.
