A nine-year-old girl who was found seriously injured at an industrial estate in Arbroath has tragically passed away, and her father is now facing murder charges. Christopher Rice, aged 35 and from Wakefield in West Yorkshire, is accused of causing the death of Minnie Merriman. Minnie died at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on August 3.
During a private hearing held via videolink at Forfar Sheriff Court, Rice, who remains in custody, did not enter a plea. The court fully committed him to stand trial for the alleged murder.
Minnie’s family has previously expressed their sorrow, describing her as “beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo.” Emergency responders were called to Elliot Industrial Estate shortly after midnight on the day of the incident, responding to reports of a child found injured.
In addition to Minnie, four other individuals were taken to Ninewells Hospital. Unfortunately, Minnie succumbed to her injuries. Police Scotland has confirmed that no other suspects are being sought in connection with this case.
