Two men have been sentenced to prison after carrying out an armed robbery at a shop in Derbyshire while falsely claiming to be from Liverpool. The offenders, Stephen Bradley and David Oakley, threatened employees at Maddy’s Store, located on Church Road in New Mills, using a knife and a replica firearm.
During the robbery, the suspects were captured on CCTV cameras stating that they needed to “get back to Liverpool.” They made off with £4,000 worth of cigarettes, £200 in cash, and nine bottles of whiskey. Despite their claims, police revealed that both men actually lived just a short distance away from the store—approximately “five minutes down the road.”
Stephen Bradley, aged 56 and residing on New Street in New Mills, admitted to charges of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. David Oakley, 48, who has no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to robbery along with possession of a knife. Following their convictions, both men received prison sentences of four years each at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 24 June
