Gabrielle Carrington, who once reached the finals of The X Factor as part of the group Miss Dynamix, has formally denied charges related to the death of social media influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska. The incident occurred in central London early on 19 April outside the Inca nightclub in Soho’s Argyll Street. Carrington, from Manchester, appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Bronzefield prison and refuted allegations of murder. Initially, she was charged with attempted murder, but this was amended to murder after Zakrzewska succumbed to her injuries six days following the accident.
During the hearing, Carrington also pleaded not guilty to a separate charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent against a security guard named Anoush Chyche. However, she was not required to enter a plea for a third charge, which concerned driving with excess alcohol. As Carrington entered her pleas, family members of those affected visibly reacted with distress. Judge Sarah Whitehouse KC confirmed that the trial is scheduled to begin at the Old Bailey in early January next year. Emotional throughout the hearing, Carrington wiped tears from her face before being remanded into custody.
The background to the case involves Carrington allegedly arriving on Argyll Street in her vehicle and immediately engaging in a verbal dispute with a man outside the nightclub. The situation escalated as others got involved, resulting in security personnel stepping in. It is claimed that Carrington then returned to her car and accelerated onto the pavement, striking Zakrzewska. The vehicle reportedly went on to hit Chyche, who was standing on the pavement, causing him serious injuries. Footage from the scene showed Zakrzewska lying motionless under the car as it reversed. Tragically, Zakrzewska later died in hospital while Chyche, who is in his 50s, sustained injuries described as “life-changing.”
Carrington is known for her significant social media presence, with more than 365,000 followers on Instagram under the username RIELLEUK. Zakrzewska, also a social media personality, had over 270,000 Instagram followers and was active on TikTok, where she was known as Klaudiaglam. Both women were influential figures with regular international travel noted in Carrington’s case, including trips to the United Arab Emirates.
