Authorities have launched a search operation following the escape of a prisoner from a transport vehicle en route to a court hearing. The individual, identified as 22-year-old Stephen Grzyb, was being moved by the contractor GEOAmey from the Belle Vale custody suite to Liverpool Magistrates’ Court where he was scheduled to face burglary charges.
At approximately 10:00 BST on Saturday, as the van reached the vicinity of the court, Grzyb managed to break free. He fled the scene, running down Red Cross Street and heading towards the Strand area. This unexpected escape prompted an immediate response from law enforcement in the area.
Merseyside Police issued a clear warning to the public regarding the fugitive. “Assisting him in any way will bring police to your own door, so it is not an association worth keeping,” they stated, emphasizing the serious consequences of aiding the escapee.
The police continue their efforts to locate Grzyb, urging anyone with information to come forward while cautioning against providing him any form of assistance. The search remains ongoing as officers work to ensure the individual’s prompt recapture
