Jane Fuller, a resident of Hadleigh, Suffolk, recounted an ordeal involving her daughter’s car, which was left unlocked for nearly a full day in April. “My daughter has an app on her phone and she managed to lock it from Croatia,” she explained. Upon returning to the car park, the family had difficulty locating the vehicle in the dark, eventually finding it parked on top of rubble. Fuller described the situation as “a shocking experience.”
Deb Jordan from Ely, Cambridgeshire, shared a troubling experience in May with her family involving transportation from Stansted Airport to the car park. She described the journey as “an absolute hazard,” noting that passengers had remained stranded at the airport for over three hours after their flight had landed. According to Jordan, two busloads of frustrated passengers were crammed into a single small transit minibus, with luggage piled on top of occupants; she recounted having “a pushchair wedged over my head.” Once they reached the car park, the family was mistakenly given the keys to another person’s vehicle. In addition, several customers revealed that upon arrival at the car park, they were unexpectedly charged an extra £20 to cover transport to the Radisson Blu Hotel at Stansted Airport, from where they then had to proceed on foot to the terminal. On their return journey, customers were instructed to ring drivers at New Farm after landing and meet at an airport location.
The BBC sought comment from Cheema and Abdul Rehman, the individuals now listed as directors of SC Parking Ltd, but did not receive any response. Uttlesford District Council described the matter as complex, with multiple agencies involved. A spokesperson stated that the council would persist in monitoring the site and evaluate any new complaints to determine whether they relate to the current enforcement notice. Essex Trading Standards reported that it has not received sufficient complaints to warrant a formal investigation. Travel Extra Deals Ltd, the owner of a comparison site used by some customers of the car park, said it issued a final warning to the operator and threatened to cease sending bookings should further complaints arise. The company also pledged to review unresolved cases, issue appropriate refunds, and apologized on behalf of the operator.
Attempts by the BBC to address complaints directly with Park Pilot Ltd—the service provider named in customers’ confirmation emails—and with the management at New Farm went unanswered. The Radisson Blu Hotel at Stansted Airport acknowledged awareness of the concerns. Its general manager, Dinesh Kunder, clarified, “We would like to stress, the hotel has no commercial agreement nor affiliation with this company.” Meanwhile, Stansted Airport’s managing director, Gareth Powell, advised customers to select authorized parking providers, scrutinize reviews carefully, and report any concerns to Essex Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice consumer helpline
