When Stacey, a mother from Dudley, fell down the stairs and lost consciousness after hitting her head, her five-year-old son Jaxon acted swiftly. At the time, his younger brother, who is three years old, was also at home with them. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation as his mother began vomiting and showed signs of slurred speech upon waking, Jaxon immediately dialed 999 to seek urgent assistance.
Jaxon was able to clearly provide their address to emergency services. Responding officers, who were the first to arrive, gained access by climbing over the back gate. They promptly began administering first aid to Stacey while waiting for paramedics to reach the scene. Thanks to Jaxon’s quick thinking and calm response, help arrived in time.
In recognition of his bravery and quick action, Jaxon was honored with a chief constable’s young person’s award. The presentation took place during West Midlands Police’s awards ceremony in July, where Chief Constable Jen Mattinson personally handed over the accolade to him.
Following the event, Jaxon received another special surprise when the Stourbridge Neighbourhood Team visited his home. They gifted him a bicycle, bought by his parents, as a token of appreciation for his efforts in ensuring his mother received medical care promptly
