The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of six men on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man in Clapham, located in south-west London. Officers were alerted at 04:37 BST after reports emerged of a man arriving at a hospital with a stab wound. Despite medical efforts, the victim later died.
The stabbing reportedly occurred near the junction of Tremadoc Road and Clapham High Street. In addition to the deceased, four individuals—three aged 22 and one aged 24—were also taken to hospital with stab injuries. Their wounds are not considered life-threatening or permanently damaging, according to police.
Aside from the four hospitalized men, two others, aged 27 and 23, were arrested at the hospital on suspicion of murder and are currently held in custody. The Metropolitan Police estimate that the fatal stabbing happened at approximately 04:20. Investigators are conducting inquiries around Tremadoc Road and Clapham High Street to piece together the full details of the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the inquiry, stated that residents in the vicinity should expect a heightened police presence throughout Saturday. The family of the deceased has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Superintendent Mark Gallacher, responsible for policing in the area, described the incident as “tragic” and acknowledged community concerns, affirming that specialist detectives are making thorough efforts to understand what transpired.
