The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their presence at the location following an emergency incident.
According to a spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), their team responded to a call at 13:02 concerning an injured individual at the Port of Tyne in South Shields. The emergency response involved the deployment of three double-crewed ambulances, two clinical team leaders, a duty officer, and three vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). Additionally, support was provided by the Great North Air Ambulance Service. One of the HART vehicles continued to remain on standby at the scene to assist the fire service if necessary.

Upon arrival, he witnessed the severely damaged dockside crane, describing it as “tangled wreckage,” which emphasized the magnitude of the incident. He also observed several cargo containers on the BG Orange ship that had been displaced from their original positions behind a line of emergency vehicles.
